Who is Blueprint Biosecurity?

Blueprint Biosecurity is a new nonprofit dedicated to achieving breakthroughs in humanity’s capability to prevent, mitigate, and suppress pandemics. We aim to do this by providing actionable roadmaps, which we call blueprints, for accelerating and derisking countermeasures and then tackling the main bottlenecks to realizing progress.

Our work begins with scoping and prioritization efforts that maps the landscape of effective biosecurity interventions and creates clear, detailed, ambitious, and achievable plans to implement them. This work culminates with Blueprints for the interventions we believe will have the highest impact. Our pilot Blueprint focuses on a form of germicidal light known as far-UVC as a tool for suppressing transmission of pathogens in the built environment.

Role Overview:

Blueprint Biosecurity is seeking a part-time Administrative Assistant to provide administrative support across the organization. This position will report directly to the Chief Operating Officer and be responsible for a wide range of administrative duties, including scheduling, document preparation, vendor relations, system management, expense reporting, as well as other administrative tasks.

This role requires a commitment of approximately 20 hours per week, which may vary based on the needs of the organization. A set schedule will be required. The ideal candidate will be available between 10 am and 2 pm Eastern, Monday to Friday.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with schedule management, including arranging meetings and appointments.
  • Send and file contracts, NDAs, and other documentation.
  • Arrange travel logistics for team members.
  • Assist with event planning.
  • Assist with monthly expense reporting for team members.
  • Assist with reviewing monthly expense reports for accuracy and completeness.
  • Assist with maintaining complete and accurate records in IT systems, including Google Workspace, our Applicant Tracking System (ATS), and others.
  • Source contact information, such as email addresses, LinkedIn profiles, and phone numbers, for people and organizations affiliated with our work, and maintain these contacts in an organized and searchable database.
  • Provide research support by finding, prioritizing, and downloading articles for a given topic.
  • Miscellaneous support as needed.
  • Special projects and initiatives as assigned.

Position Requirements:

  • A minimum of 2 years administrative experience, with a preference for 4 or more years of related experience.
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize work.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High adaptability in rapidly changing environments.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and adjust priorities as needed.
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace.
  • Knowledgeable in organizational management systems, like Asana.

Core Skills and Competencies:

  • Ability to learn new things quickly. You have a proven track record of starting diverse projects with a strong need for problem-solving.
  • Excellent time management. You have a track record of balancing multiple priorities successfully.
  • Excellent organizational skills with an eye for detail. You can seamlessly manage intricate tasks, maintaining order and precision in fast-paced environments.

What we offer:

Compensation: The hourly pay for this position ranges from $29.66 to $43.06 USD. We consider a variety of factors when formulating an offer, including but not limited to, the role and responsibilities, work experience, education/training, skills, expertise, and internal equity.

Role Overview

Blueprint Biosecurity is seeking a full-time Project Manager to lead our Priorities Research team. You will work directly with key members of the Priorities Research team to manage projects exploring the viability of potential biosecurity solutions and dive deeper on ideas that appear both impactful and tractable, with the end goal of finding solutions that merit Blueprints. The Project Manager will lead internal priorities research, as well as manage external collaborators and contractors. In this role, you will be a cross-functional team player, working collaboratively with other teams within Blueprint Biosecurity organization. The ideal candidate will have project management skills, strategic prioritization skills, along with research and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop comprehensive project plans that outline research objectives, timelines, and resources required to execute shallow and medium investigations.
  • Assemble and lead a multidisciplinary research team.
  • Manage junior policy researchers and external contractors.
  • Evaluate the likely impact and feasibility of different biosecurity solutions through multidisciplinary approaches, such as simplified cost-effectiveness analysis, decision theory, scenario modeling, reviewing comparables, and more.
  • Build models to determine which interventions are the highest priority for funding and other support.
  • Map relevant landscapes for identified solutions tied to pandemic prevention and preparedness.
  • Document the processes used in our prioritization project, creating a record of decision, and identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with external organizations.
  • Speak with experts across industry, academia, governments, and beyond to translate their expertise into detailed research proposals.
  • Other duties as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven ability in leading and managing projects effectively, coupled with the skill to achieve outcomes by leveraging the capabilities of others.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to tailor language for different audiences.
  • Strong research skills, including literature review methods and interpreting/applying statistical data and research results.
  • Strong creative thinking and problem solving skills.
  • Proficiency in cost-benefit and analysis and familiarity with decision theory.

Education and Experience

  • At least 3 years working in a project management or leadership role preferred.

What we offer

Compensation: The base salary for this position ranges from $120,000 – $160,000 USD. We consider a variety of factors when formulating an offer, including but not limited to, the role and responsibilities, work experience, education/training, skills, expertise, and internal equity.
