Call for Information: Evaluation of Far-UVC Ocular Dosimetry

Overview

Blueprint Biosecurity seeks to understand recent insights and advances pertaining to the ocular dosimetry of far-UVC. These insights aim to inform safety guidelines, technological innovation, and adoption strategies. Specific areas of interest include:

  • Quantifying far-UVC dosimetry for human eyes:
    • Utilize modeling approaches
    • Employ contact lens dosimetry techniques
    • Leverage mannequins or comparable methodologies
  • Highlighting recent advancements in experimental setups, measurement techniques, and data collection frameworks
  • Developing technologies to accurately measure eye exposure to far-UVC doses in occupied zones, particularly in shared or high-traffic spaces

We encourage researchers and collaborators to share innovative methods and evidence-based results to drive forward the development of safe, effective far-UVC applications, primarily in the occupied zones of congregate spaces.

Requested Information

In evaluating new approaches, Blueprint Biosecurity requests information on the following:

  1. Quantifying how much far-UVC is reaching the eye using different lines of evidence – computational modeling, contact lens dosimetry, mannequins, etc.
  2. Modeling eye far-UVC exposure under canonical and alternative built-environment device deployment.
  3. Guidelines for updates to scientific methodology and reporting to increase study comparison.
  4. Considerations and/or technology needed to advance field of study
